The Internet and Me

Hey yinz, Nicole over here. I am a thirty one, flirty, and thriving Scorpio (I am all that and more that you read in the horoscopes) fat babe that has been blogging on tumblr as The Hefty Hide Away since 2011.

Sure, I had a dead and live journal, but I never really got into the communities on it. Actually, not till I stumbled on someone's tumblr in late 2010 did I even really realize how large the fat acceptance movement was. I was in my late twenties, but the phrase "better late than never" truly applies to finally finding it. It was a dream come true to see such strong and beautiful women expressing themselves and accepting their beauty, in all shapes and sizes. It inspired me to create my tumblr at and it was one of the best things I could have done for myself. I have been fortunate to meet people from tumblr from other cities and even different countries that I feel as strong a kin ship to as I do with some of my best gal pals in my own city! One of those awe inspiring friends being, Molly, of course. Talk about hitting the girl gang lottery, right?

Life and Me

I am a born and raised Yinzer from the Steel City aka Pittsburgh, PA. I studied art and creative writing at Carlow College. I continue to pursue my art outside of my full time job through art shows I have been a part of and the comics I am working on to create a series. I am driven by my love of all that is rock'n'roll, fashion, kitsch, and ridiculous.
